Una hora más en España // One hour more in Spain

Husos horarios europeos

European time zones

These days the Congress of deputies discusses if the change of the Spanish time zone is appropriate. It's an hour more than its share in winter and two hours in summer. The Greenwich meridian should really govern because of its geographical position.

Everything changed on 16 March 1940. In the middle of the II World War, Francisco Franco, aligned with the Axis, adjusted the Spanish clock to be fast and to fit with the Hitler's Germany and the invaded Europe. Nobody has changed the decision since then. Experts criticise this resolution even though it reduces the working productivity of the Spanish workers and prevents the conciliation of work and family life.
