Map of the Magyar Migration.

The Magyar nation were one of the last Asian people who emigrated to Europe in search of new lands. Their raids devastated all the Center and East of the continent.

Their military power reached such a level that several army corps arrived in Catalonia in 942 a.C. After a raid in Provence against the Saracen settlements, they marched into the Southern Carolingian counties, becoming the Spanish Mark. They plundered Fontanilles, Banyoles, Sant Medir de Castellà, Santa Coloma de Farners and the Solsonès. They also besieged Lleida and were close to do the same in Barcelona. They went to Huesca and captured Barbastro's governor. Muslims, Catalonians and Franks joined under the command of Muhammad ibn Hashim al-Tugibí. The alliance defeated Magyars in Tudela. They could finally be expelled after the battle of Baltarga. The main references about this incident were compiled by the Muslim historian Abu Marwan ibn Hayyan.

Afterwards, Hungarian and Catalonian people had friendlier relationships, to the extent that there were four matrimonies between the houses of Aragón and Árpad, between XII and XVI centuries.
