El rey del porno / The king of porn

Alfonso XIII da para un blog por sí solo. Podría hablar de sus habilidades en el tenis, el polo y el tiro al pichón. De su fama como automovilista o de su manía de cazar ciervos con ametralladora en el Palacio de Riofrío. También de cómo filtraba a Alemania los datos de interés estratégico sobre la I Guerra Mundial que le sonsacaba al embajador francés en Madrid o cómo dejó faenar a los buques alemanes en la costa catalana. De cómo creó la primera organización humanitaria gubernamental o de su interés de gobernar por encima del Gobierno. De cómo alentó a los militares en la guerra con Marruecos, los llevó al desastre y luego les tildó de gallinas. De cómo entregó España a un dictador como Primo de Rivera o cómo apoyó la causa franquista para ser luego 'traicionado' por Franco.

Sin embargo, una de sus facetas más interesantes fue la de primer impulsor del cine pornográfico en España. El rey era un famoso adúltero, conocido en los prostíbulos de Madrid (a los que se llevaba sus sábanas negras) y tuvo varios hijos ilegítimos. A su vez, amaba el séptimo arte y tenía una sala de proyecciones privada en el Palacio Real. Entre 1915 y 1925, encargó a los hermanos Baños, a través del conde de Romanones, rodar en el barrio chino de Barcelona tres cortometrajes pornográficos ('El confesor', 'Consultorio de señoras' y 'El ministro'), en cuyos guiones colaboró, aunque su autoría no se vio reflejada en los metrajes.

Durante 70 años, las películas estuvieron ocultas. Un día aparecieron misteriosamente en un monasterio valenciano, que vendió las copias a la Filmoteca Valenciana, donde se conservan hoy día.

Alfonso XIII makes for a blog on its own. I could speak of his skills playing tennis, polo and clay pigeon shooting. Keep talking about his fame as driver or his mania of hunting deers with a machine gun in the palace of Riofrío. I could also speak of how the king leaked French strategic information about the I World War to Germany or how he let the German ships fishing in the Catalonian coast. Speak of how he created the first humanitarian governmental organization or his desire to govern over the government. Talk about how he encouraged Spanish generals in the Rif War, lead them to disaster and later stigmatized them as chickens. I could mention how this king handed over Spain to the dictator Primo de Rivera or how he supported the Francoist cause and subsequently 'betrayed' by Franco.

Nevertheless, one of his most interesting aspects is that he was the first Spanish porn movies promoter. The king was a famous adulterous, known in the Madrilenian brothel (where he took his black sheets) and he had several illegitimate children. At the same time, he loved the seventh art and had a private projection room in the Royal Palace. Between 1915 and 1925, Alfonso XIII put brothers Baños, via count of Romanones, in charge of shooting three porn short films ('The confessor', 'Ladies' consultacy' and 'The minister') in Barcelona's Chinatown. He cooperated in the script although his autorship was not reflected in the movies.

During 70 years, the films were hidden. One day, they mysteriously appeared in a Valencian monastery, which sold the copies to the Valencian Film Archive, where they are currently preserved.
